Artist: Punch the Sun
Song: Character
Released: October 26, 2018

In the newest single by Queens-based alt-pop/rock band, Punch the Sun, singer and bassist Shannon Söderlund says, “Oh, see, I wanna be friends, but I don’t wanna make ’em…”

The sound of her vocals are so comforting, it almost feels more like a heartfelt conversation with a good friend than a song. But the clever and dynamic arrangement, brooding cello, and distant sounding guitars will chime in to remind you that you’re in the midst of a beautiful song about making friends and those oft-familiar feelings of self-doubt.

It’s a well-crafted, catchy, and creative alt-pop song that will be in my rotation for a long time.

“Character” is the 3rd single the band has released in 2018. They’ll be releasing a fourth single and some of their older songs as a double EP at the end of the year. In 2019, they’re planning to release their first full-length album of all new music.
